Suburban Worms

Suburban Worms consists of Ben (Worm Master General), his wife Monica (Dr. Worm), baby Jane-Violet (Assistant to the Regional Manager), and Mia the Cat (Marketing Director). In 2004, when his parents moved to Lake St. Louis, Ben was inspired to breed worms from an episode of Dirty Jobs and a desire to raise his own fishing bait. However, he quickly bonded with the worms and didn’t have the heart to kill them and instead raised them to compost food waste.

In 2016, Ben transitioned out of teaching middle school science and into being a worship pastor and a hopeful worm farmer. Suburban Worms is part of the global Worm-Farming Alliance and attended the 2022 Worm Farming Business Conference in Phoenix, Arizona. In addition to the Lake St. Louis Farmers and Artists Market, Suburban Worms sells their products at Grow Active Solutions in St. Louis. Between Ben and Monica, they have six college degrees and are passionate about educating others on how to partner with nature to create a sustainable future.
